This is the Disney Designer Collection Princess Mulan Doll.First let me explain the ratings I gave. This doll could be lots more fun, looking is only so much fun. She certainly has no real educational value.However she is very durable, being attached to the cardboard and all but impossible to take off. There are wires running through her hair and inside the waist of her dress. The dress itself is held down by several little "tags". They are very small and break easy, so be careful. She's tightly secured and I don't think you can get this doll out without ruining the cardboard. (At the very least she will never be able to display the same way again.)Over all Mulan is stunning. The amount of detail is amazing. She is fully articulated (even her legs, which is sort of an oxymoron being she's not meant to be taken out). Her face is unlike any other Mulan doll out there. She looks more elegant and refined. It's hard to state just how beautiful she is.She has rooted eye lashes and full length gloves with little silver crystals on them. Her hair is in a beehive and has two pink and white flowers in them. The flowers are actually more like hair pins and get pushed straight through her hair! (So they aren't just glued or banded on!)The top of her dress has 3 different layers of pink. There is a lacy like ruffle at the very top, attached to the top of the dress, and attached to that is a big pink ruffle. The blue part of her dress is very sparkly and around that is a small red string that hangs down and is attached to her dress). The dress itself is a mermaid style. It's got a huge bow in the back. It fans down and out making the dress look much bigger.And for the finishing touch, because they really did think of everything, she has little pink high heels. But unfortunately they can't be seen unless you happen to have snapped a plastic tag holding her dress down.

Disney really dissapointed this time. After the beautiful colleciton of 17"H Limited Edition dolls they made this less then impressive series. Dolls are smartly designed based on tinny body of regular barbie size princess doll about 11 inches.. they did some hairdo and wrapped them inmodern dress that did not really even required that much sewing.. so there you have it.It is modern for a reason as traditional dress requires so mcuh more workmanship and this isjust wrapped and pulled.. check out.. none of those dolls have a top of the dress - covered shoulders or sleeves per se.It is really sneaky trick.I am very very dissapointed, the doll in person presnts itself like your 50 bucks barbie from toysrus and that is pretty mch what it should cost.I don't expect this series to hold any special value or historical significance since it is just very average and missed the point totally.. who needs a traditional princess dressed in the outfit that is stylistically waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off.It is like dressing Julius Cezar in Levi's.. it might be cute, it might be controversialbbut it is not what people are looking for.

For the collectors, I'd like to acknowledge: yes the whole idea of these Disney Princess designer collection dolls are meant to be as collectors' items and a one off unusual piece! Hence something to leave in its display box and look at; strictly look at not play with and/or touch.Even so, definitely NOT worth buying especially not for the inordinate amounts that they're selling for by Disney and other places such as e-bay. I personally don't own one (may seem strange me writing a review) but that's WHY I've decided to write the review and it brings me to my point: if you're a Mulan fan and want a Mulan doll, save $$ and buy one that looks like her. Beehive hairstyle? Long eyelashes and make-up? Strapless 'kimono' style evening gown? NOT Mulan! Yes she wore that gorgeous pink dress that resembled a kimono at the start of the movie and even some make-up; most of the movie, however, was spent in her armour or pants and shirt. Mulan was NOT the sort of girl who dressed up demurely in this sort of attire. Come to think of it none of the princesses in this collection look like themselves.
